Ballet 101 Open Rehearsal Workshop
Conducted by Ms. Rosa Park
Current Ballet Mistress at the Singapore Ballet
Adjunct Lecturer of Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA)
and Mr. Etienne Ferrere
Former Principal Dancer at the Singapore Ballet
Mar 3rd, 10-11:30am, 2024

Reflecting on our inaugural educational workshop conducted on March 3, 2024, we found ourselves immersed in the perfect opportunity to deepen students’ love for ballet beyond mere technique and exercise. Ms. Chihiro, in collaboration with Mr. Kenya Nakamura under the expert guidance of Ms. Rosa and Mr. Etienne, orchestrated an educational session, which offered a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the reality of ballet dancers’ preparation for performance.

The workshop proved enlightening on multiple fronts. Not only did participants gain insight into the role of an artistic director, ballet mistress, and ballet master in guiding and correcting dancers, but they also learned that even principal dancers require constant refinement. This lesson transcends the boundaries of ballet, reminding us of the importance of humility and the pursuit of continuous improvement in all aspects of life. The breathtaking performances by Ms. Chihiro and Mr. Kenya, coupled with Mr. Etienne’s remarkable choreography, left us in awe.

Looking ahead, we eagerly anticipate further engaging with our community of ballet enthusiasts to brainstorm ideas for future workshops. We invite you all to share your thoughts on how we can continue to offer entertaining and educational experiences.
