Soloist Programme

Soloist Programme

Kadence Soloists Programme is an intensive programme that focus on grooming strong foundation in classical ballet and contemporary dance techniques for dancers to gain exposure from competitions or dance immersions.

The course will be designed by our Artistic Director Chihiro Uchida and taught by a team of highly-qualified faculty members. There are required minimum training frequencies per week and the soloists are encouraged to train as much as they can among suitable courses that are offered.

Kadence Ballet Academy is a premier ballet academy in Singapore offering holistic ballet education for students who are serious about developing their classical ballet and contemporary dance training.

Our Soloist Programme (SP Programme) is designed as a structured pre-professional pathway for students who wish to take their dance training significantly further.

A key purpose of the programme is to prepare and feed suitable students into overseas vocational ballet schools, while also supporting students who may wish to pursue arts universities or leading universities where dance can form an important part of their application profile, specialisation or artistic portfolio.

The programme therefore focuses not only on technical development, but also on helping students build the depth of training, performance experience, competition exposure, repertoire, artistry and overall portfolio required for future vocational school and university applications.

Students may have different long-term goals. Some may aspire to become professional dancers, while others may wish to use dance as a major artistic strength when applying to universities. In both cases, the SP Programme aims to provide the training, exposure and guidance necessary to help each student progress toward the next stage of their journey.

The programme places strong emphasis on classical ballet technique, pointe work, contemporary dance, conditioning, repertoire and performance skills, while helping each dancer develop greater technical strength, artistry, confidence and versatility.

Programme Overview

The SP Programme consists of three levels, with placement based primarily on the student’s technical ability, physical development, training experience and readiness, rather than age alone.

  • SP Level 1 – generally for students aged 8–11 years
  • SP Level 2 – generally for students aged 10–13 years
  • SP Level 3 – generally for students aged 13–16+ years

SP students are required to complete a minimum of 8 hours of group training per week.

Depending on the student’s level, timetable and commitment, Kadence Ballet Academy provides access to approximately 16–20 hours of suitable training opportunities each week, allowing students who wish to train more intensively to significantly exceed the minimum requirement.

Benefits of the SP Programme

Extensive weekly training opportunities

Students are required to complete a minimum of 8 hours of training per week, while suitable students may access approximately 16–20 hours of training opportunities each week, at monthly capped rate, depending on their level and timetable.

Flexible access to group classes

SP students are encouraged to take advantage of the wide range of suitable group classes available within their level, including classical ballet, contemporary, conditioning, pointe and RAD classes up to Intermediate level where appropriate.

Our vision is to provide serious young dancers with the opportunity to train frequently and consistently, as we believe that regular repetition and exposure are essential for meaningful technical development.

Vocational school pathway

For students who aspire to pursue professional dance training, the programme aims to prepare them for applications and auditions to overseas vocational ballet schools, including guidance on repertoire, audition preparation, training intensity and portfolio development.

University and arts education pathway

For students who may choose an academic route, the programme can also support applications to arts universities or leading universities where dance forms part of a student’s specialisation, extracurricular profile or artistic portfolio.

Competition and performance opportunities

Students may be given opportunities to participate in local and overseas competitions, performances, showcases, workshops and dance immersions.

Private coaching opportunities

Students may access private or semi-private coaching for variations, technical development, competition preparation and individual areas of improvement.

Broad artistic exposure

The programme is designed to expose students not only to ballet technique, but also to contemporary dance, conditioning, performance, musicality, artistry and different approaches to dance training.

Priority access

SP students may receive priority enrolment for selected workshops, masterclasses, private coaching and visiting-teacher opportunities organised by the Academy.

Portfolio development

Through consistent training, competitions, performances, workshops and other dance experiences, students can build a strong and diverse dance portfolio.

Even for students who eventually decide not to pursue dance professionally, we firmly believe that the discipline, resilience, artistic appreciation, teamwork and confidence developed through intensive dance training can remain valuable throughout their academic, university and personal journeys.
